I flew to Italy two years ago in mid-April. Our roundtrip flight, leaving on a Monday and returning two weeks later on a Wednesday, was $740 plus fees. Now we're going to France in mid-October, and for the same days -- leaving on a Monday and returning on a Wednesday -- almost everything I see is above $1000. Why would that be? April and October seem both slightly off-season, October maybe even more so. Have airline prices increased that much in two years? Or is flying to France more expensive than to Italy? Why would that be? Thanks for any thoughts.
Yes, prices have increased that much in two years. For comparison, try recreating your trip to Italy and compare the price to what you paid before.
Yes, prices have gone up hugely. Friends of mine just paid almost $1500 to travel from Kansas City to Zurich. The same ticket the last time they visited was MUCH less.
Yes, fares have gone up a lot. Last Spring to France we paid under $700; 2 years ago it was a hundred or so less. This Spring the best I could find was around $1,000.
Yes, I paid $1224 on Air France from LAX to Paris last September and just booked
same Air France flights for over $1500, one year later! Happy Travels!
