Have you seen a particular show that you would recommend? One of the main things drawing me to Seville is flamenco, so I'm really trying to do my homework, including Rick's recommendations and some tripadivsor forums. I want to see dancing as well as live flamenco music. Thanks
I am just going to give you this whether you have it or not - http://www.exploreseville.com/flamenco.htm It is too big a subject (as mooted in the link) and makes my head hurt to try and grasp it all. Certainly you should try to see different aspects and presentations in different surroundings, from the tablao (although I have not) to the earthy bar (many a time).
Also, listen out - my wife and I had a fine time for an hour late one afternoon after sticking my head round a door. There were young ladies being taught and practising their moves in a bar which was barely marked and closed at the time for tuition.
I've attended a show at the Casa de la Memoria de Al'Andalus - mentioned by RS - and it was amazing! It focussed more on the art of flamenco, not the cliches. But the shows change everynight, so I can't say how good a show might be from night to night. I also attended one of the more touristy shows that come with drinks. It was nice, but lacked the quality of the above show.
We would support Doug's recommendation. Far more interesting than typical bar/restaurant setting.
Thanks everyone! I think we are going to see a couple different shows while we are there.
Casa de la Memoria de Al'Andalus is the one we saw as well. We loved it and I liked that it wasn't touristy as some of the others that we saw advertised.
