Flameco Shows in Sevilla

Hello, what Flameco show do you suggest in Sevilla? We'd like to see a tradtional show, not a tourist trap. Thank you!!

I went to the Casa de la Memoria, which is all about the show (no dinner or drinks are served, so you know it's not about those). Rick's book recommended this, as well as several other good places. Here's their website: http://casadelamemoria.es/. I see the website is only in Spanish, which is good preparation for your trip. I found less English in Spain than any other place in Europe - be ready. Although, at the Casa de la Memoria show itself, the announcements were made in English as well as Spanish.

I saw the Los Gallos show in the old jewish quarter 8 years ago and simply was blown away. The dancers, the singers, the clappers, the guitar players were all simply marvelous. I walked away with goose bumps. So when I returned to Sevilla 8 years later, I had to see the Los Gallos show again. And for the second time, it did not disappoint. It may have been even better than the first time. The male dancers were incredible, still don't know how they move their feet so fast with such a calm cool expression on their face.
I am sure it is a tourist trap as I do not believe there was one Spaniard in the audience. You get one free drink, no meal. Very close seating to the stage if you line up early. I would go back and see it every night if I lived in Sevilla.

Casa de la Memoria is usually regarded as the best, least "touristy" performance. But the nightly performers change, so it may depend on which troupe is performing that evening. But the show I went to was breath-taking. One of my most memorable evenings in Europe. I've also attended Los Gallos and enjoyed it. Not as good as the Memoria, but if you've never seen real flamenco, it would be very amazing (I saw it after seeing the Memoria one and the difference in quality was noticeable). Almost any flamenco show will be filled with tourists and cater to them, but I found these to be more about the performance and less about other unrelated things. PS - I did have to laugh at the tourists sitting in the front row at Los Gallos that slept through almost the whole performance. The performers noticed too...
