First trip to Paris - 4 Days

Just ordered Ricks guides, maps, etc. However would like to start searching for a hotel and the On- line sources are proving fairly overwhelming. We are 45 and celebrating our 20th anniversary. Traveling without the kids, looking for a romantic hotel in the 6th. Price less important than quality. Thanks

We returned Sunday from a stay at the Relais Bosquet and I second the recommendation. We had a very comfortable stay: the bathroom was the nicest we've had in Paris, rooms are more spacious and comfortable than most, and very helpful front desk staff. We did not have their breakfast, preferring to walk down to the corner by Rue Cler and sit at one of the cafes there or stopping at a crepe stand. Have fun planning.

Hotel Aubbusson,, or Hotel Le Regent( get the deluxe room the standards are tiny). or if you want a hotel with an amazing and romantic view,, get a Tuilleries View Room at the Hotel Brighton,, its not in the 6th, but just across the river from it, and in front of the Tuilleries Gardens,, plus the Louvre ,, plus the little balconys have romantic view of the Eiffel Tower,, it is in the distance, but when they turn the twinkly lights on ( every hour on the hour after dark till midnight I think) you will really feel special.. All these are nice hotels,, but keep in mind, hotel rooms, even more expensive ones will be a bit smaller then you are used to in North America! Read reader reviews on tripadvisor.com

Tim, we love the Hotel du Champs de Mars...quaint, cozy, comfortable and in a wonderful Rue Clere location. We first booked it for the reasonable price (100 euros/nt) and found it to be an amazing value for Paris. Happy anniversary!!!!

Try an apartment. I have used Victoria Paris Homes for several trips now. It's not anymore than a hotel and she has a wonderful studio available in the 14th.

I would follow Pat's advice for the 6th! I didn't post my favorite earlier because it's not in the 6th, but I'll go ahead anyway... Hotel de Lutece on Ile Saint Louis (the little island east of Notre Dame). Very nice hotel in a very romantic neighborhood surrounded by the Seine river and beautiful views.

My husband and I have enjoyed the Hotel St. Jacques near the Pantheon and the Sorbonne. It is also an easy walk from the Notre Dame area. The hotel is near two laundromats if you would like to wash clothes. There is a street market near the closest metro station. You can go up the hill to the Pantheon area and find many good restaurants. We found one that served fondue and raclette. You are also close to Les Jardins des Plantes, the Arab mosque, the zoo, and the Luxembourg Gardens. Ask for a larger room because some are smaller than others. The room size can also affect the size of the bathroom. The breakfast is 11 or 12 euros per person but is good. The ladies who keep the breakfast buffet filled are really nice and can give you lots of good information. We didn't eat the breakfast one day but found that to go elsewhere was almost as costly. There will be differing opinions on this subject, as usual. Sometimes, I find it easier to eat breakfast at the hotels so I can take my medication and return to my room to finalize getting ready for the day. Have fun! regardless of where you stay.
