I will be in Amsterdam in May for only 2 days and I would like some suggestions on where to stay. I will be traveling alone for the last couple of days of my trip, and would like a safe , inexpensive B&B that offers single rooms and I don't know what area is best. Any reccommendations about neighborhoods and things to do would be appreciated.
Check Rick's guidebook on Amsterdam( eg Best of Europe 2011 should have a good, concise section )..it will give you all the info you need for a great two days in Amsterdam
Thanks , I do have the guidebook and I have reviewed it. That's why I had questions as to which area. I was thinking central or West side Amsterdam was good, but it also mentioned Jordaan neighborhood. Not sure which was better or if it made a difference. thanks
cheryl,
we r going to amsterdam for our first time in april and after lot's of research we decided to stay near the hermitage museum which is south eastern ,because the price fit us better. hanna penso, private room , bath etc.. 110 euro/night hope this helps have a great trip :):)
The Jordaan neighborhood is great. The Hotel Van Onna has some single rooms. The tourist bureau, VVV, is great at locating rooms.
Not necessarily a B&B but the place I prefer is: http://www.hotelprinsenhof.com/hotel/info.html Edwin
Thanks so much for all the great info. I am excited about my trip. I am sure it will be all to brief. I did check with Hotel Van Onna and they had a single room avaialble for one of the nights only.
Thanks agin for everyones help.
Loved staying in Haarlem - easy connection to Amsterdam, less expensive and great restaurants. Lovely little town. Check Rick's guidebook for accomodations here.
We are going to Amsterdam in April and staying at B&B Jordaan - haven't stayed there before but it gets good reviews and the owner has been wonderfuly responsive about our questions and reservation. Not sure if they have single rooms or not though.
We love the Hotel Fita. it is wonderful , but definitely no smoking. The Owl hotel is neat and 7 Bridges.
