First Name and Surname mixed up on SNCF ticket!

It's my first time to book a train ticket on the Voyages-SNCF website. I managed to score 25 euro Paris-Geneva tickets for our upcoming trip, and I don't know what happened but the moment I saw the ticket I noticed that my First Name and Surname are mixed up (first name is my surname, vice versa). I opted for the e-ticket so I was able to print it out right away. Will it matter if my name is mixed up or do I just board the train without having to show the ticket to anyone in Paris? I'm freaking out! Thanks for whoever could help me.

Stop freaking Janet, quite often forms will ask for Family name first and Given name second so if the ticket says something like "SMITH Fred" don't panic just board the train and when you are asked for your ticket have your passport handy as well just in case.

Thanks Pauline. Actually, on the ticket it states "Surname: (My actual first name)" and "First Name: (My actual last name)". That's what gets me worried.

You are dealing with rail travel, not an airline or TSA. Conductors may be strict but they are not ogres. They may confirm the name against your passport, which has your photo on it, but that is just to make sure that Lastname Janet and Janet Lastname are the same person. If the ticket says Lastname Janet and your passport identifies you as Jose Smitholovic, you might have a problem. You should be fine.

Janet , Pauline is right , don't get upset . Probably you won't have a problem . In addition to your passport , be sure to have the credit card you used for the purchase , it may be required to verify your identification . If you are that concerned , stop in an SNCF boutique ,there are numerous locations in Paris , and the agents there will be able to help you easily . This really isn't a major issue , Enjoy your trip !!

Our experience with train tickets is just show the ticket and the credit card used to purchase it if purchase via the internet. We may have but have no memory of ever showing a passport with the ticket. And many times we will have a ticket for four with only one name on it. Trains are not concerned with the names on the tickets. Don't worry about it.

As a frequent SNCF traveller I can assure you that you won't have any problem.
