Finding a non-commercial tour guide

My husband and I have been to Paris a half a dozen times. We would like to go for 10 days in May/June and connect with a private tour guide (resident) who can educate us on all the areas we have not yet seen. Also, we would like to have a tour guide connection in Brittany, and perhaps Lyon. Does anyone have friends that would like to discuss fair rates for touring with us? We are a very fun couple with no kids!

It's worth asking the Cabin Crew/Flight Attendants. They may be available or know of someone. Paris could be their base...

Or if it is not, maybe they go there often enough that they have friends there who may be available. Or they themselves may be originally from there or go there so frequently that they would be able to act as a Guide. If you spend five days a week at the same place two or three times a month you get to know it very well. It becomes your home away from home.

Something else you might take into consideration when selecting a guide is their Fluency in English AND/OR French or whatever language you prefer.

It just wouldn't work if you each only spoke a little of each other's language. Unless you brought along a translator!

Anyway, just a thought!

Bonne Chance!
