We are planning a sabbatical in Germany or Switzerland (we'd prefer the latter) and want to find a reasonable rental for 8 weeks for our family of four. We want to avoid needing a car, if at all possible. Any suggestions for finding a good spot?
Try www.holiday-rentals.co.uk. They currently list 7,634 properties in various locations around Germany.
Try www.vrbo.com. Should have anything you require.
You need to lease. It will be much better. You pick the car and options. It is delivered new at the airport. "Walk away insurance" is included in the cost.
The French automakers, Peugeot and Renault, have the programs. Check out Europebycar.com for details.
I didn't order a GPS unit when I leased. Next time I'll either buy one at home to take (Tom Tom includes Europe maps) or get one with the vehicle.
Pam,
CH Riehen looks like a good place. It's perfectly poised for ease in rail transportation. You might find a rental agency in Riehen to assist you. Check out this web site for photos [including the railway] of CH Riehen. Gute Reise! ... P
