Final Paris Itinerary - leaving in 2 days! Opinions!

I hope this looks as smooth as I'm hoping the trip will be :) Any last minute opinions, or "no-way(s)" would be very appreciated! I'm so excited! At the very end, I've put two additional things I'd like to do - think I can squeeze them in? Also, I know the sun does not set until around 9pm in Paris, but does that mean I can basically plan my days to go until then? For example, on my last day if i can get to Montmarte around 7pm for dinner and sunset, that means I can probably do the chocolate tour that day (10:30a) and just push the Catacombs and Rodin (just stopping by gardens, by the way, not the whole museum) in for later in the day (ending both at around 530, then heading to Montmarte). Thoughts? on 07/18 – AM arrive from London @ 11a lunch RS Historic Walk (Highlander, at 8 rue de Never – right at Pont Neuf. Good beer, good suggestions) Trocadero Scene & Eiffel Tower (picnic dinner) Tues 07/19 – RS day #2 morning RS afternoon #2 – Orsay Seine River Cruise (free thru hotel) Wed 07/20 – Louvre Luxemberg gardens + Latin Quarter (nothing really planned... just enjoying the scene) Nice dinner OR night bike tour? Thurs 07/21 – Rue Cler Market -bfast (Saxe Breteuil market) Rodin Catacombs Montmarte Would like to do: Explore Marais District (4 – metro St. Paul) NORTHERN area of Marais
Chocolate tour – Thurs the 21st at 1030

Jealous! I went recently, and I want to suggest that you leave time for just sitting in the cafe's, relaxing and watching the world go by. It was one of my favorite things to do there. Don't miss St. Chapelle. Good choice on Monmarte.

It looks like you enjoy art museums. If your walks take you in the vicinity of Musee de l'Orangerie, I would highly recommend going in. The museum itself is not big, and overwhelming. However, "Water lilies" by Monet are breathtaking. Your itinerary looks good. We walked around the Rodin gardens, after the museum was closed, and it turned out to be exactly what my husband wanted to see. Have a great trip!

Sunset in Paris in July is appx 10 pm, and it stays light a bit beyond that. That's one of the many things about Paris we love in the summer, long days! Your itinerary looks good. My 3 favorite things to do in Paris are: walking (especially the 2 islands and along the river), the Luxembourg Gardens, and cafe sitting/people watching. FWIW, I don't like the Montmartre area, the Marais is much more worthwhile imo. Have fun!

Long days in Paris are mostly a matter of your own stamina. Sunset tonight in Paris is at 9.51 - but the days are getting shorter (about 1 minute per day). And dusk is fairly long. The Louvre is open late on Wednesdays. I'd switch around and get there later than earlier, when it is generally MUCH less crowded. I agree with Susan, the Marais is much nicer and more interesting than Montmartre. If you like museums, visit the Carnavalet Museum there - and it is free and it is one of my favorites. And as Denise said, the Orangerie is well worth a stop. I loved the chocolate tour (Paris Walks). Back to Montmartre - the nicest thing about it is the view, and there are better places from which to look down on Paris - the Arc de Triomphe, the dome of Pantheon, the tower of Notre Dame.

We walked all the way from the Le Marais up Montmartre 2 days ago and wouldn't do that again. It's uphill all the way as soon as you start getting close to Montmartre proper, and then you get to climb the stairs and the structure! Better to take the metro there and you will have more energy for the stairs and monument. PS- view will indeed be of Paris, but not at all a close up view of the downtown attractions. Bon chance.

Don't know how old you are and if you have been to Paris previously. Paris is crowded and hot. Think Orlando. I was there in May for 4 days. You are cramming a lot into your time. I loved Montmarte but I prefer early in morning. Not as crowded or as hot. Take the metro there and save your energy for the stair. The museums take a long time because they are crowded.
