Final itinerary question for Amsterdam

Ok trip is coming up in 3 weeks. We have travel documents. I am looking for advice on my itinerary. We arrive Nov 14th very early and check out on Nov 17th to proceed to London. My game plan as of right now is
Day one... Drop bags off at hotel and hit the Ann frank house when it opens. After that, wonder around and maybe hit another musuem... Vangogh or Rickjsmuseum.. But here is my question, based on what I have read here and what has been recommended to me, I was going to do a day excursion out of town to Harleem, Hague and maybe Delft... A few hours each. Is that enough time and is this plan realistic??? If not, can you suggest an itinerary. My goal is to just see the country and what the area has to offer... Thanks again... RC

You can do definitely do both Haarlem an Delft in one day. They're both on the same train line, with departures every 15 minutes or so. You may want to consider visiting the Hermitage Museum in Amsterdam as well, they're is an interesting show on Flemish painters like Van Dyck and Jordaens. http://www.hermitage.nl/en

Amsterdam is small and easy to see so that will be helpful for you. I'd definitely plan on the Van Gogh museum.
It's quick & easy to take the train to Haarlem, and it is much smaller than A'dam therefore easier to see. Delft is pretty and also easy to see. Can't comment on the Hague since I didn't get there on my trip. 3 days should give you plenty of time.

Thanks Janis... What I am wondering is can I do the out of town stuff in one day? Wake up and hit the rails and visit each of the places in one day? Thanks again rc

Of Hague, Delft, and Haarlem, you can see two of the three in one day. But, while each is nice, with only three days, one of which is the day of arrival, I would stay in Amsterdam. There is probably 10 times as much to see there than in the other three put together. Now, if you had 5 days or more, I would advise differently. Amsterdam is a terrific walking city. You should consider going to amazon and searching for "city walks", boxes of 50 cards, each card with a mapped and narrated walk. There is one for Amsterdam.
