Hello! I'd like to purchase tickets to a Benfica game during my trip to Lisbon in April. My B&B told me that "sometimes" you can get day of tickets to the matches, but I don't want to risk it. Is there a secure affordable way to get tickets and when do tickets generally go on sale?

I believe the Portuguese league's season ends this week; there will be no matches in April. The new season doesn't start until August. There have been some financial problems, and a a few teams had to close up shop, resulting in a shorter than usual season.

bom dia! michael's right, the portuguese liga has abbreviated its schedule to the last gameweek being the week that i write this reply. it's a shame, because in early april you could have witness an epic clash of benfica hosting league leaders fc porto! all hope is not lost, however. benfica is still active in the knock-out stages of the UEFA europa league. they play one of my favorite teams paris-st. germain away this st. patty's day. if they advance, they will definitely have a home game in april in the next round of the "2nd best in europe tournament". bottom line: if your trip coincides with a europa league game at eastadio da luz, i would recommend talking to your concierge/hostel manager for ticket purchase plans. if you would still like to tour the stadium (contains an AMAZING fitness center open to the public when the team is away/offseason) , follow this link for more details http://www.slbenfica.pt/English/Services/VisitTheStadium/hp.asp
