festival in Rothensburg

Ibelieve it is the Meistertrunk festival(?) in late May...is it only for a day/weekend or is it a week long thing? And just HOW crowded is it? I am not fond of really big crowds when on vacation (I am staying a distance from Neuschwanstein for instance) but have been to Rothensburg in May before and don't mind a "crowd" just when it impedes all that you do. (i.e. long waits at restaurants, sights) And if it is only a day or two, which days is it. If anyone has been there, was it worth the crowds? I am bringing my adult kids and they may not mind as much...I can deal with it if it is still enjoyable. Thanks! I am planning on staying in the old city or just outside of it.

I haven't been at the Meistertrunk Fest, but there is a website devoted to it, www.meistertrunk.de (imagine that). It looks like they put on a play. The only schedule I could find was on the German language side. They show the festival extending from May 21-24 (Fri-Mon) and they give show times for each date.

Prices for the play are €14 (1st 10 rows), €9 (next 10 rows), and €6 (last 6 rows). Online reservations in advance are possible, but it looks like they don't accept credit card, only Überweisungen (a kind of reverse check used in Germany). There is also a phone number, but is doesn't say if they accept CC there.

that video is great Steve...I am going to go ...I may not love crowds but that looks like it is worth it. and I do love that town, and want my kids to experience it......but I am assuming it would be one REAL pain to park at a hotel...even if they have their own parking....does anyone know if you can park overnight in the lots outside the wall?

actually that is where you usually have to park since space is very limited on the city streets. we were lucky enough to have the lady who ran our b&b watch for an empty space for us. but that was not during festival week.
