We want to take a ferry from Calais to England (Dover or a nearby port). There are 3 adults in our party and we will NOT have a vehicle. In Rick's book, he lists very low fares ($13 round trip) for such travel but in all my searches, I've come up with nothing short of $60 (U.S) for the total round trip fare (per person). Am I missing something? And is there a difference between the price I see online (at P&O Ferries, for example) and the price I'd pay if I walked up and wanted to ride? This is madness!!

I got widely different prices at www.poferries.com depending on whether it was a day trip or an overnight stay. How long did you want to go for? It might be cheaper to buy two day-return tickets rather than a return over a longer period.
