I would love to hear from travelers about your favorite Provence/Luberon summertime experiences. I will be there this summer for a week and am interested about great fairs, festivals or magic moments. I read about the Avignon festival and the jousting in Carcassonne and hope to hear about some of your favorites that I can encounter. I had read about the Kaltenburg Ritterturnier Knights Festival in Germany in July and went in 2010. It is held every year in July on weekends. The event was likely one of my families" best days ever" as I read on I was able to have my son Knighted on his 10th birthday. It took alot of planning and changing my itinerary but my little boy fought a fully adorned Knight, passed tests of bravery and skill and kneeled down and was forever changed. I am looking for those wonderful festivals big or small where you get dance with locals and be part of something much different for just a spell. Thank you Caroline
Market day in numerous small towns is a lively event. Fete de la Musique (June 21 in 2010---think it's the same day every year) is a national day of music. We were in Vaison la Romaine which had a variety of venues/ensembles, and many restaurants had special menus. PM me if you want a great gite there; you will need a car, though.
