May be a silly question, but how relaxed or intense are the Fat Tire Bike Tours?
The 8 hr bike tour from Paris to Versailles sounds like it could be fun, but intense. What does one wear? Sneakers? Jeans? Work-out clothes? Or is a casual more relaxed ride in which one could wear jeans or a skirt w/flats? Thanks for your help!
Debra I have done basically all the FT tours ( over last 3 years).
None of them are intense,( although the most exciting one is the Paris by night tour), wear what you want , shorts, pants whatever for weather .
Skirts would be not a good idea though.
Versailles was fun,, but personally I felt we could have used more time there,,(but I have been there many times and knew what we were missing, while others on tour did not so seemed happy enough) . It was fun and the picnic part is fun .
My favorite two tours were the Paris by Night tour,, very fun, and Monets Gardens( Giverny),,, absolutely enjoyed that daytrip the best. Ride on an old railway line through countryside, very scenic.
Work out clothes not needed. Rides are all easy enough for average person, kids too.
Hey, it wasn't intense; I'm a 67 yr old granny. I wore slacks w/ pockets, a comfy shirt & shoes that either had laces or a strap so they didn't come off easily. Tie a short scarf around yr neck or put on a little jewelry & you'll look fine. I have a very lightwt mesh & nylon backpack that I picked up several yrs ago @ Wal Mart; handy to throw a jacket, cap & the picnic lunch u buy in Versailles in & perfect for bike tour. Bought a sm camera case that I could put around my neck on Rue Mouffetard. PS - throw in a few clean ziplock bags, paper napkins & wet wipes for your picnic. Bon appetit!
Jeans are never recommended by biking, especially if you'll be sitting on the saddle a long time. Something without a bulky seam would be more comfortable.
True Carol,,, but these tours are not about intense biking,, the seats are big and comfy, and you bike for the most 20 minutes at a time before you stop,,,I wore jeans on both my London and one of my Paris tours, the weather was not warm.
No one wore biking attire etc on any of the tours I have taken .
