We enjoy bike tours as we did Bobby's bike hike in Chicago. Of course their website encourages both the day and night tours. I am interested in hearing feedback regarding their tours- both day and night and whether anyone did both. Also I would like feedback on the Versailles tour by fat tire. Do you really see much more on the bike tour as opposed to doing it yourself? Thank you,
John
We have done bike tours in several cities in Europe and really enjoy them - they are low key and you see the city in a whole different way. Cycling on your own, when you don't know a city can be pretty scary, but with guides who know the city, it's fun. Paris was our first Fat Tire tour - it was lots of fun. If you can manage it, doing both day and night would be fun. Paris at night is magical, but we just did the day tour. We've also done bike tours in London, Budapest (2 different tours - one a history tour), Vienna - planning for Barcelona next month :).
John, we did the Fat Bike tour to Versailles and loved it! It was one of the highlights of our time in Paris. We saw much more of the grounds and gardens than we would have otherwise and also really enjoyed the stop at the Versailles market where we bought bread, wine, cheese and lot of other treats for our picnic at the palace grand canal. I felt that we had ample time to explore the palace itself but we didn't get to visit the hamlet. All in all it was a fantastic day, very well run, by a knowledgeable and personable guide (most are young men and women from the U.S.) For us, it was a unique way to visit Versailles and we would highly recommend.
John, I have done all the FT bike tours in Paris (except Normandy) over a perioud of years not all on one visit) and one in London. The first tour I did was the Night Tour, loved it. Then did Versailles. I had visited Versailles 4 or 5 times before on my own, so I knew we did not see everything, but was with a friend and it was her first visit and she felt we had seen alot , she had no idea what we missed and was very happy with tour. I felt I would had enjoyed more time on our own to explore the grounds. My favorite tour was the one to Monets Gardens in Giverny. I actually could care less for Monet, but liked the semi rural aspect of this bike tour. I was so glad I took this one as it is still my favorite tour. I have also done the day tour and really enjoyed it and it is different then the night tour so combining them is fine. The night rou includes a boat cruise so I think its a good deal too.
