I am planning trip of above for 6 persons. We can split as 3/3. Please give suggestions for hotels that I can book online with triples, or apartments for 6--but not for a full week.
Also, we are thinking of taking the night train from Florence-Munich in 6 person couchette, instead of 2 triples, since many have said it is a bad night's sleep anyway--I thought, why not save $ and get the 6er--good/bad?). Other advice for family of 6 appreciated. We are not renting car--trains and buses only. thanks, Elaine

Try searching on venere.com. I had good luck finding lots of triples in Italy, France and England when booking an upcoming trip for a family of 5. But be aware that many "triples" are just doubles with an extra cot thrown in the room, so double check rates and room descriptions against the hotel's own websites.

I was on a 6er a few years ago in Spain. 6 people fit in the compartment just fine - what you have to be careful about is luggage space. There's an overhead shelf (hope you have long, strong arms - it's about 6' up) or below the beds.
6 average suitcases will probably fit just ok, but it will be tight - watch out for carryons or daybags.
For the date I chose, it looks like that train has 4- or 6-person couchettes (+ doubles or singles)...
