Can someone recommend a hotel in Vienna that has rooms which will accommodate a family of 4 -- two adults and a 13 and 11 year old? We have never been to Vienna and are thinking that a central location would be best for first-time visitors, although are flexible on this point if a better suggestion comes up. Our budget is around 200 euros/night.
We use booking.com with good results. If you do find a hotel you like, you can always call them or email them directly to see if they can put an extra bed or two in. Typically the chains, Novotel, Ibis, Best Westerns (which are nice independent hotels, not like in the states), have 4 person rooms.
We always stay in an apartment in Vienna. If you are staying 3 or more days this would be ideal for you and your family. Last Christmas we stayed at Beatrix Walkner's Apartments Augarten and loved it. It is a little out of City Center, but right out of the front door of the apartments is a Ubahn station which will have you in the Center within 5 minutes. Beatrix is a great landlady, speaks English, and is very easy to work with. http://www.apartment.at/eng/apartment/66
Several years ago we stayed at the Hadyn Hotel ( an RS recommendation) on Mariahilferstrasse. 10 min walk from Westbahnoff, 20 min walk from St Stephens, and across the street from a metro stop. We were 2 adults and a 19 and 21 yr old. Good rooms, decent breakfast, and I don't remember it being that costly.
