Fabric/sewing supplies in Paris

What type of fabric are you looking for? I was looking for fabric for quilting, and I found a shop in the Latin Quarter by the river. I also found fabric for quilting and clothing at a department store. I think it was Le Bon Marche. If it is quilting fabric you are looking for, they call it Patchwork there. I just googled that and found places. I ran across a more clothing type fabric places in Monmartre.

i am looking for unique fabric, notions, etc. something you wouldn't find in the U.S. i'll try your suggestions and google it.

At the base of the Sacre Coeur (before you go up the stairs or funiculaire) there's a whole neighborhood of fabric shops. I like Tissus Reine and Dreyfus, which are very close to one another, but there are plenty of others too. Tissus Reine is fun because they have miniature mannequins with dresses sewn from the fabric they sell all over. Easy walk from metro Anvers.

When I mentioned Monmartre I was referring to the area that Amy is talking about. I remember seeing a lot of fabrics for dressy clothing, etc.

Here is a really neat place I have been. It is called Entree des Fournisseurs. Look on the website. entreedesfournisseurs.com They have fabric and all kinds of neat notions.. very French.The hours and address are on the website. Take the metro Saint-Paul. Address is 8 Rue Francs Bourgeois - in the courtyard.

The fabric district at the base of Montmartre is called Marche St. Pierre. The many stores and shops there have everything including fabrics and feathers for caberet costumes and belly dancers.
