Can anyone tell me how close you can get to the top by car? Or is bus preferable? From the posts ive read, its making me thnk we should leave the car behind and go ny bus! Any thoughts? My husband would not be able to climb or walk too far. He will be Ok once we get to the village, but I'm worried about getting him up to it?
It is a steep climb to the village and you can't take your car to the top. If your husband has difficulty walking uphill I think you should skip Eze altogether.
Actually you can take him to the top (past the hairpin curve) to where the delivery vans park. Parking in that area is skimpy with highly restricted hours, so you'd have to drive back down to park the car and walk back up to meet him. From the parking lot entrances to as far as you could drive is about five hundred feet - - if you're deep within the parking lots, it's probably twice that. That said, walking within the town is steeper in some places than the way up.
You can get a bus directly to Eze le Village from Nice without walking up from Eze-Sur-Mer. However, the village itself covers the top of the hill and the streets are quite steeply graded.
Thanks everyone. We did decide to skip it altogether and drive to St. Tropes and Cannes. Probably enjoyed that better anyway!
We were able to park at the delivery truck area, we were lucky. I started to walk but as stated before the town itself is walking uphill. I couldn't do it, turned around and walked back out. I have a bad back and it was too much, there are other hillside towns that are not as steep. Honestly I'd skip it.
