Eze, France

Next month traveling from Nice to Eze de la Mer, then want to hike to Eze the Village. If I take the train from Nice to Eze by the sea, how do I access the trail to Eze, the Village? Many thanks!

you may want to look into bus from nice then hike, or bus up then hike down.

Thank you, David, I appreciate your response. Do you know if there is train service from Nice to Eze Village? The Web and Rick's book have conflicting info. I would like to hike one way on Neitsche Trail. Many thanks for any information you may be able to offer!

"I would like to hike one way on Neitsche Trail." It's a fairly steep trail with a lot of up (elevation gain), many travelers would find it more enjoyable to walk down rather than up (especially on a warmer day).

See page 7 of the attached, http://www.eze-riviera.com/infos/PDF/2011/GuideEze_11_Web.pdf which discusses train service to Eze le Village. I don't see any indication that there is train service directly to le Village. When I was there a few years ago, I took the train from Nice to Eze-Bord-de-Mer, then a bus (or taxi) up to Eze le Village. On some train websites, if you input Eze, you may be getting the wrong Eze, the one on the coast. Also, looking on Google Earth, with rail line enabled, there don't appear to be any rail lines to Eze le Village. Eze le Village is up a thousand feet above the coast and the other Eze, which may be why trains don't get there.

There is train service from Nice to Eze sur Mer and then you take the shuttle bus up to Eze Village from the station. We took bus #83 from the main Nice bus station by the ocean by the Vieux Nice area directly up to Eze Village-the scenery was breathtaking and the ride only took minutes. When you get off the bus, cross the street and walk up the hill to the actual Eze Village. As you walk up, you will see the sign on your left to a path to Eze sur Mer. After exploring Eze, WALK down. The hike was easy going down ! After hiking down, we just walked the main road until we found the bus stop to take us back into Nice, Villefranche, etc.
