We will be flying into Madrid from the states and arriving at 8 AM. We are looking at doing the AeroCity shuttle bus in Rick's book (19 Euros for up to three people). I think the other option would be a taxi - considering how frazzled we are likely to be after traveling all day. Can anyone give us any feedback on their experience with AeroCity? Thanks in advance!

Jenny,
I am not experienced with the AeroCity shuttle in Madrid, but I do know the Metro pretty well in Madrid. I suspect that you're worried that you're going to be too frazzled to deal with the Metro--figuring out the map and how to purchase a fare, etc. I think you may find this easier than you expected. It will also be much cheaper than 19 Euros. You can review the Metro map here before you go, so that you'll know which transfers you need to take: http://www.madrid-tourist-guide.com/en/map/madrid-metro-map.html. Your hotel can tell you which Metro stop is the closest to their location. I have not ridden many taxis in Madrid on account of the extensive Metro system, but my experiences with taxis have been good. However, I suspect that taxis will cost you just as much or more than the shuttle. Given that choice, I'd probably suggest the shuttle if the Metro seems too a big a challenge immediately upon arrival.
