Hi
I booked a 4 night hotel stay at Hotel de la place in paris for the beginning of august. It will be our last stop of out month long backpacking tour of europe so i wanted a private room and bath (especially after camping throughout italy for 10 days!)
Does anyone have experience with this hotel? i know it is a 20 minute metro ride from the city center but i heard it is in a safe area (important to us as we will be coming back late most likely). some of my questionas are.... if it is safe, how the staff is, is it close to a metro stop, and any other info you can provide.
thank you!
christy
A quick google tells me there are at least 3 hotels named "Hotel de la Place" in Paris, Hotel de la Place des Vosges, ...de la Place du Louvre, ... de la Place des Alpes. Is it one of these? If not, please give us the actual address and we can comment on the area at least.
Thanks for letting me know. the address is :Hotel de la Place
21 rue Henri Martin
92240 Malakoff
Paris
It doesnt specify which one. Thanks
OK, so Malakoff is outside of Paris in the suburb of Malakoff, practically at the end of Metro Line 13. It seems to be a business and university centre, but that's all I can tell you. How much are you paying? Maybe you could book somewhere actually in the city, or do y ou have a reason to be in Malakoff?
we are paying 50 euros per night for a double ensuite. this is because we are on a tight budget. because we are staying her longer i figures a 20 minute metro ride into the city would be worth the sayings and privacy.
In that case it looks like a perfectly OK place to stay though maybe not very interesting. But if the price is right, the interesting stuff will be in Paris proper. Amusez-vous bien !
Christy: Last August I got a room at the Ibis Chateau Landon Gare du Nord for 59 Euro a night - room had double bed and private bathroom, plus a/c. This hotel was just 5 minutes walk to Gare du Nord (and Gare de L'Est). I know it is a little more than what you are paying for Hotel de la Place, but you may want to check the Ibis website for any specials they may run (or Accor Hotels - the parent company). August can be a kind of slow month for Paris hotels because a lot of the French are on holiday. You may get a decent deal on something closer if you keep hunting online.

Hi Christy,
... you may find several topics of interest in the above Paris guide... Have fun ... P
Hotel is actually outside of Paris , in a suburb. I think you might be able to do a bit better location wise, but, I like being central and not having to worry about a long ride home at night.
Look at Hotel Perfect , right in Paris.
Also check out any hotel you want a review on at tripadvisor.com or just google the hotel name and the word "reveiws". Read serveral sites to get a good idea.
If you do not get the response you wanted, but still need an inexpensive private hotel, I used hotwire.com and got great results.
