Exercising in Valladolid, Spain

I will be studying at a language institute in Valladolid, Spain for 4 weeks in June and July, staying at an apt with 3 other teachers.
1 - Is it cuturally appropriate/safe to run in the streets in the mornings or evenings?
2 - Are normal jogging clothes acceptable?
3 - Are there local gyms for working out or using treadmills? What would be a ballpark cost?

Thank you.

I didn't ever see anyone running in the street when I was in Spain. You might ask your language institute contact your questions, since they would know the local practices/availability/cost.

Donna, I have not spent time in Valladolid but have been to other areas of Spain as a teacher many times. I found it very safe but maybe a bit awkward since not many folks do run. However, when I spoke to "neighbors" about this, they thought it was a typical American thing and absolutely fine. I am not familiar with gyms but know of another woman (in Barca) who joined a gym and enjoyed it. Buena suerte.

Donna,
If you have a local gym at home, see if they can recommend a work out place in Valladolid. There is a network of gyms and for a small fee, you can work out at the international location.

I do not recall seeing people running while I was in Barcelona and Madrid. If you're looking to keep in shape with cardio, I guarantee that you won't find any problems while on vacation.

In Spain I found plenty of places to walk, hike and climb. Going up and down the stairs in the metro alone is better than the stairmaster and 24-hour fitness!

I woudl say skip the run, and explore the city with your friends. You'll probably get as good of a workout exploring!
