Evenings in Paris

Sounds like a perfume, doesn't it? Woman, traveling solo. Besides a boat ride on the Seine, what are some nice, inexpensive evening activities in the City of Lights? I love to dance...is there a place a solo woman can go to dance without looking ridiculous? (Well, except for how I dance, perhaps.) I'm married, my husband is not coming with me. Not looking for a date, but fun things to do in the evening.

Hi Norma,

This just may be the place for you to indulge in your love of dancing. Ive been there and I can highly recommend it. Just join in - you will always have someone to dance with, male or female.

"Dance on the banks of the Seine"

Every evening from May to September when the weather is fine, the garden of the square Tino Rossi (5th) is transformed into an open-air dance floor. Salsa, rock, tango, traditional dances from Brittany and elsewhere, every amphitheatre has its speciality. Newcomers are welcome to try a few steps of tango, from 7pm (or 8 or 9pm depending on the day), in this magical setting right on the banks of the Seine. Then, all the tango aficionados from the French capital and beyond will join them for a dance that goes on until midnight. Don’t hesitate to go along: admission is free and this typically Parisian summer event will give you the chance to meet new people in a friendly atmosphere, beneath the lights of the passing boats and the gaze of their passengers.

We saw the dancing on the Seine as we went by on the boat. It looked like so much fun. Someday I will go back and give it a whirl...

Hi Norma,, I know this may not sound as fun as dancing, but just an option. I will sometimes visit a musuem in the evening. The Orsay and Louvre are both open various evenings,,, and are usaully alot quieter and less crowded then day .

I would also recommend the Fat Tire Bike Tour,, the evening tour is fun, and includes a boat cruise .

If you're up for a simple night of people watching, try sitting around one of the outdoor cafes on Place du Tertre in Montmartre. There always seems to be some activity going on there.

thanks for the replies. dancing on the seine sounds right up my alley, but, unfortunately, i don't think i'll be there at the right time, unless i change my plans. it sounds tempting enough to do that.

Go to the Eiffel Tower. You have to see the lighting of the tower at night plus the view of Paris is spectacular.

Evenings?
With all that I'm doing during the day, all I do in the evenings is watch the inside of my eyelids. :)

There is a jazz nightclub called Caveau de la Huchette which is on the left bank just across the river from Notre Dame. My husband and I went there several years ago and listened to some great music and watched some amazing lindy hop dancing. The band played too fast for us to dance to but it was a blast anyway. Check out their website: http://www.caveaudelahuchette.fr/

If my wife was going to Paris solo and mentioned she wanted to go out dancing, I might decide to buy a ticket and join her.

I think this sounds fabulous! I'm going to Paris on May 12th with my best friend and we love to dance. The only problem is I can't seem to find Tino Rossi Square on my Paris Map. Is this dancing on the Seine or a smaller river on the outskirts of Paris? Thank you for your help!

Hi Susan,
I could not find Square Tino Rossi on map also, but you will find the following on your map. It is on the banks of the Seine. I went there and loved it.

Square Tino Rossi / Quai Saint-Bernard between the gare d’Austerlitz and the Institut du Monde Arabe) (5th) M° Gare d'Austerlitz

Once you get on Quai Saint Bernard, any person will point you in the right direction.
