Thanks to previous blogs on this website, I plan to take the Vedettes Pont-Neuf evening cruise. If I do that, does it still make sense to book an evening bus illumination tour? Would the bus tour be that much different to warrent the extra money and time? I am not the type of traveler who feels the need to see every item listed in the guidebook. Some hightlights at a leisurely pace is fine with me.

Obviously the cruise is limited to the river and the river in many areas tend to have high banks which limits what you can see. So I think each would see many different things. Not sure I would do both the same evening.

It does feel a little like overkill to me. Is this your first trip to Paris? It was our first trip in July and we did the Illuminations Bus tour. I really didn't think it was worth the money. There was very little, if any commentary. Just riding a bus around the city. We ended up seeing all those sites anyway over the course of the trip. I think we went throught the same intersection about 5 times. Felt like we were going in circles. LOL.
