european curling iron and hair dryer

I would like to buy a european voltage hair dryer and curling iron before taking a vacation this summer to Prague,Vienna and Munich. I do not want a dual voltage. I know I can simply buy one once I get there, but am hoping there is an on line website that sells them. Does anyone know where I might find?

Save your money and buy an adapter plug. You can take your current appliances (unless they are fairly old) and use the adapter. Check the cords on your hair dryer and curling iron and they will likely say something like "voltage 110/220 v". These will work in Eurpoe with an adapter. You will want the Continental version. I would by a few so you can use them with your phone and laptop chargers. http://travelstore.ricksteves.com/catalog/index.cfm?fuseaction=product&theParentId=126&id=24 At worst, you can buy a voltage converter for less than $30. http://travelstore.ricksteves.com/catalog/index.cfm?fuseaction=product&theParentId=126&id=423

On several travel forums I have read accounts of North American curling irons putting on a fireworks display. Buying a 220 machine in Europe will probably be cheaper than on-line; after all, what use are they in North America?
Hair blowers are simpler and the dual-setting machines work okay, although only on low when in Europe. But wait until you get there to shop for a 220-only appliance since many hotels supply them as part of the room furnishings.

Buy the curling iron once you get there and save dragging across the ocean. As for the hair dryer, almost every hotel ans B&B we have stayed at has one and you don't have to drag it with you. Likewise you will know that the appliances they supply will not overload the circuit.

Why are you posting this question again? There were several responses to it the first time you asked; the last response was June 21.

Thank you all for the responses to my question. This will be my 4th trip to Europe and I really just don't want to deal with the hassle of adaptor plugs etc. I will probably purchase when I get there, as I will use in the future. I did NOT intentionally re-post my question this morning. Must've been a glitch somewhere. Sorry to anyone who was annoyed by that. Seems a little silly. Thx again!

I'm finding that most hotels (even the small ones) have hairdryers. You may just need to buy the curling iron.
