Europe the day/week after Christmas?

I want to go to europe on 12/26 but worried about what is still going on. I still want to be in the holiday festive spirit. What kind of holiday activities continue after Christmas day? I'm looking at options between London, France and Germany. I think German markets are closed. Is that true? Plus there are bank holidays and such. Anybody have specific great experiences to recommend?

"I think German markets are closed. Is that true?" Almost true. But a few remain open, including the one in the city of Speyer, south of Mannheim on the Rhine, which keeps its market open into the New Year. It's closed on the 26th but open after that through Jan. 8. 11:00 - 21:00 daily except for Jan. 1, when it opens at 13:00: http://www.speyer.de/de/tourist/feste/weihnachtsmarkt2011 Speyer itself is a worthy destination - its Romanesque cathedral is one of the best examples of this style - and it's roughly mid-way between the Mainz/Frankfurt area and Stuttgart, so you'll have other things to do and see in the area.
