Europe Itens

I have posted several topics here and gotten a lot of help. As I add new topics and get responses from people I am getting more and more clear with my iten. I have just one thing to sort out -- choise between Amsterdam or Austria (Slazburg and Innbruck)

Iten 1)
Day 1,2,3 - Belgium and Brussels (Day 1 Bru, day2&3 brugge) On day 4 take the morning train to amsterdam (2.5hours)
Day 4,5,6 - Amsterdam - On day 7 take the morning train to Paris (4.5hours)
Day 7,8,9,10 - Paris - On day 11 take the morning train to munich reach munich y 12:30
day 11,12,13,14 - drive the romantic road from day 11 12:30 to day 14 noon
We have out flight out of Frankurt on day 14 at 3pm for chicago (this cannot be changed)
in addition we are landing in brussels at 6am on day one...since we love beers - we definitely want to spend 3 days in brussels....

the second iten is very similar only difference is we will skip the 3 days in Amsterdam and spend them in Austria 2 days in salzburg and 1 day in innsbruck
we will leave paris on the 4th day by the 7pm train and overnight it to salzburg where we reach by 6:30am

we love scenaries a lot more than museums....but still confused between Amsterdam and Austria (We have been to Eastern Europe before - Prague,Slovakia and Budapest..so not sure if Austria is similar to these?) Always wanted to see the Alps..we are leaving Switzerland and Italy for another trip.
Any suggestions are welcome. We are going to stick to 4 countries ..we are not the type who can spend 8 days in one country and not get bored..we like a change within 3-4days....

do you suggest removing one of thees counrties and adding another one?

I like iten. # 1 better. Since you will return to do Italy and Switzerland I would lump Austria in with them.
Actually I guess it also depends on what time of year you are going, weather wise I mean.

Do Paris -> Munich overnight instead of wasting half a day on the train. It's not a short trip. The NZ (Nachtzüge - night trains) are intended for just this purpose; they go a little slower and require no transfers.

YOur itinerary seems reasonable -unlike many others posted on this site. My only comment is to consider spending most of your Belgium time in Bruges, and use Brussels as a transit hub. It's a small enough country that it shouldn't upset your timetable too much.

We will be going to all these places end March 2008.
I also preser Iten #1, but was tempted for Salzburg and Innsbruck cause they are picturesque towns. :)

For #1, I would begin Paris-Belgium-Amsterdam (with a NT to Munich) or Amsterdam-Belgium-Paris (arguably also, NT to Munich). No big deal, but that would save you a few hours.

Given the weather in early spring, Amsterdam, with its cafes and museums, would be a safer bet. But with good weather and clothing you could still have a fine time in Austria.

Good luck!

Like I have said earlier, the path we take is restricted cause we have tickets on miles, so we are flying in Brussels from Chicago and flying out of Frankfurt.

We really love Austria. Salzburg is one of our absolute favorites and Innsbruck and Vienna come close. Amsterdam was fun and very interesting when we went. Because you are traveling in very early spring, I'd go with Amsterdam. Better weather! Austria deserves more time than you have. Combining it with Italy is not a bad idea. Or plan a trip where you can really focus on Austria. Salzburg and Innsbruck are GORGEOUS! Summer or mid-fall to early winter are when we have visited and we enjoyed both times.
