Europa Park near Freiburg

Has anyone heard about this amusement park? I just found it mentioned in a Fodor's Germany. Seems to have informative areas of many countries in Europe and the Far East. Just wondering if it would be an interesting visit for an 11 year old and his grandparents. Part educational, part fun?

I'm pretty sure the Europa Park you mention is a bit north of Freiburg, across the Rhein from Strasbourg, actually. I think the town is call Rust, pronounced "roost".

Thanks, Lee. I have been on their website. We are staying in Staufen for 2 nights. I was hoping someone had been there or knew someone who had. Trying to figure out if it is worth sacrificing a day of Germany and Austria sightseeing to see it.

Barbara,

We checked this out as a possible day trip out of Freiburg for our upcoming trip...

Appears to be EPCOT meets Universal's Islands of Adventure- Culture and Coasters. Large park, figure all day with lots of time spent walking around and standing on lines. Won't be able to see and "do" the park in a day. Ringsheim appears to be the closest rail connection and shuttle bus from there to park. Our son will probably have a blast, but we'd need a day after to recharge.

We go there every other year and it's real great fun for a day. It's rated to be pretty much the best theme park in Europe, better than Disneyland Paris. Be there right when they open the gates though. You'll need all the time you can get.
