Euro Train Pass; confused about the activation?

Hi

We have purchased our 5 country pass and have made the reservations for the trains that we want to take.
I am confused about the pass activation? How does that work and what is it all about?
Our first train is from Amsterdam to Paris. We have the reservation, but does the pass need to be activated? If so, how do we do that?
Thanks
Jeanette

Is your first train from Amsterdam, or from the airport in Amsterdam to somewhere? Anyway, before you use the pass the first time, go up to the ticket window, at the airport or at the central train station, and they will validate it for you. You'll have to show them your passport, and they will put on the date and stamp it.

before you use it each day, enter the date in European format. Be careful. A seven should have a "bar" through it to show it is not a one.

Thanks for the reply.

Our first train is from the city of Amsterdam to Paris.
We are visiting family in Holland, but will leave them and go to Paris.

So it sounds simple, just go to the ticket counter and have it validated.

We will leave a little extra time to day that before boarding the train to Paris. We already have our reservation and seats assigned.

Thanks again.
