We will be traveling through France, Germany and Switzerland. Will we be able to use Euro Dollars in Switzerland, or do we need to convert to SF?
Thank you, Steve

There are some touristy places that will accept Euros, but they will give you a lousy rate of exchange. It's best to use Swiss Francs.
It is best to use CHF while in Switzerland. As Michael has indicated, many touristy places will accept Euros and even have conversion charts. But, you won't like the conversion rate. Simply withdraw cash from any ATM in Switzerland. They dispense Swiss Francs (CHF). It works great.
Thank you for the help. The ATM will work very nicely, as we will only be in Switzerland for a few days... We appreciate your assistance...
I've heard of the Euro and the Dollar, but never heard of the "Euro Dollar". Is it some sort of coupon good on both sides of the Atlantic?
No such thing as a Euro Dollar in terms of currency for travelers. Many Americans think the Euro is like the dollar because the Euro is based on 100 cents just like our dollar and the Euro coinage is called cents.
Techinically, there is something called a "Euro Dollar." It's an American dollar held by a foreign institution outside the U.S., usually a bank in Europe, often as a result of payments made to overseas companies for merchandise It does not come under the scrutiny of the Federal Reserve Board.
I stopped in at a McDonald's in a Swiss border town a few years ago. Since it was a daytrip I decided to use Euros. The cashier accepted my 10 Euros and gave me change in Swiss coinage. So then I had money I could use only in Switzerland. So I bought some more at McD's and ended up paying the equivalent of $10 USD for a McD meal. I would use Euros in Switzerland only if I planned to be there a very short time since the conversion is so expensive.
