I hope any Americans traveling to Austria or Switzerland next summer are aware of the Euro 2008 tournament (soccer), which runs June 7-29. I haven't been in a country during a major tournament like that, but I imagine it will have an effect on one's travels (especially pricing, and especially in the cities). It should be a very exciting atmosphere if you're going there for the tournament, even if you're not going to the matches.
I plan on going to the final in Vienna (then continuing to Salzburg and Germany after the tournament). Any comments or suggestions, especially from those who have been to something similar (i.e. Germany 2006 or Portugal 2004)?
