Anyone know where these games are being held?
EVERYBODY knows it. Ask people in the streets of Bangkok, Thailand or Shanghai, China. It's one of the world's most popular events. www.euro2008.com. At this stage they're only using the two larger stadiums in Basel, Switerland and Vienna, Austria.
I tried to find something on-line hoping to find a match in Italy or in Europe. Actually any match in Italy or Europe would be good...we are there in late July. Seems like everyone takes summer off from soccer.
Sorry....July's the offseason for soccer in Europe.
I'm confused. You'll be in Europe looking for a football match taking place in Europe? There's always something going on. But the Main League football matches don't start until September...
I was in Varenna, Italy the night that Italy beat Germany to advance to the finals for the World Cup. (sorry Andreas!) Even in this tiny town one of the hotels set up a big tent on the church square with a big TV. My Italian is awful but it was a blast.
You cannot imagine the fun of allowing yourself to become caught up in the excitement of it all. Everywhere you go people will be watching their TVs or listening to their radios, in the shops, etc, etc.
We were in Verona at the opera in the coliseum when Italy won the quarter-final. Even the opera was momentarily interrupted when Italy won and the city erupted into a huge roar. During the intermissions we could see the orchestra members hustling back to the percussion section where there was a little TV.

Enjoy the fun indeed. I was in Annecy, France in 1998 when they won the World Cup and it was an experience I'll never forget!
