Hello! I am aware that many of the trains covered by Eurail passes in France require a reservation. When and where should we make these reservations? We have an itinerary where we will be leaving from Gimmelwald (thanks to those who gave me advice on where in Switzerland to go!), and heading to southern France (Marseille perhaps?). Will we need to make our reservations online somehow before we leave? Or could we make them at the station we are leaving from right before the train leaves? Or should we make them while in Switzerland, a few days before leaving? I have not been able to find any clear answers as to when and how these required reservations need to be made. Thanks!

make them as soon as you get to switzerland in the train station reservation office. waiting before the train leaves might mean that no seat is available. are you willing to take that chance?

The bst is to do your next reservation the same moment you arrive into a new rail station. This way you'll be all settled for the rest of your stay. If your stay is short then you should definetely book in advance especially if you're traveling in July-August or during weekends.
