Escalators in Paris Metro Stations

Will be exiting at Sevre-Babylon station, which is near our hotel. Are there escalators up to the street level?

Well we were just in Paris twice this past summer, and we encountered several out of commission escalators,, perhaps when one is hauling luggage one notices them more!! What bugged me is it always seems like the ones going up are broken, not the ones going down, lol

I just came back from Paris several days. Haven't gone through Sevre-Babylon station itself but I noticed with other stations including the airport station, it is NOT escalator friendly. I found carrying my baggage up the stairs many times but luckily I pack light.

I don't know about that station specifically, but want to mention that if there is an escalator it may not be working. Be prepared for stairs to climb either way.

Andrea's right, in addition to few stations having escalators, more often than not if they have one, it isn't working. One of my pet peeves.

I have been in Paris for past 3 months, in the metro stations that have escalators (few though there are) they have been working.

Bill, it is best not to count on escalators and lifts in France. A few stops do have them (for example, Cité has a great elevator, but it is also very far underground. Others, you just cannot count on them. I thought I was in good shape (I am rather young), but studying in Paris last month put be in great shape!

No, there aren't any escalators (or elevators) up to street level at Sevres-Babylone. (very few metro stations in Paris have escalators or elevators. This is not a mobility-impaired-friendly city, unfortunately.)
