Over 25 years ago, I stayed at this hotel (full name Hotel Gastehaus EnglischerGarten) in Munich and loved it -- back then, it was above my pay grade in luxury. Looking to return, the website makes it look pretty good, but not as expensive as I expected to find. Ratings on TripAdvisor are good but not great (mostly 3s and 4s). I haven't yet looked at Rick's current book(s) for Germany or Bavaria -- but wonder if anyone has recent experience at the hotel. Thanks!
I have not stayed there but liked the location. One review that I read said that they had expanded into another, more modern building. The reviewer made the comment that the newer rooms had less atmosphere. That might explain the less favorable ratings.
There is nothing with "4"in the ratings. Most reviewers (including myself) save a "5" for the really stellar places.
Thanks. I don't rely much on TripAdvisor anyway -- I've been badly mislead by TripAdvisor rating and they're only a starting point for me. In this case, there aren't all that many ratings and not only 3s and 4s, but some unhappiness in the written comments. I found a few other Graffiti wall comments about this place, but none very recently.
