At the end of our 3 week trip with our 3 teens, we are spending 3 days in Honfleur, seeing Omaha Beaches, Caen museum, MSM. We have a day and a half to travel back to Frankfurt before our flight. Is it too much to drive to Strasbourg before taking a train to FRA? I don't have a feel for how to use that time well. Thanks for suggestions.
The drive from Honfleur to Strasbourg takes roughly 7 hours, and then from Strasbourg to Frankfurt about 2.5 hours. To me, that seems like you will spend the whole day and a half driving, with little or no time to actually see Frankfurt.
If you have to drive from Honfleur to Frankfurt, maybe a stop in Luxembourg City would be a better use of your time? It is about 5.5 hours from Honfleur and another 3 to Frankfurt, but is basically smack dab in the middle.
Any chance you can drop the car in Honfleur or maybe Le Havre? Then take the train instead of driving, much more relaxing at the end of your trip. Could do a stop in Brussels, Koln, or Luzembourg.
Mike, Thanks for your reply. I should have been clear about our itinerary. We will have seen sights in Normandy, Omaha Beach, MSM, Chartres. Now we have a car at Chartres and can either drive back to Paris or on to Strasbourg, drop the car and spend the night there, taking the train to Frankfurt the next day. OR, I guess that's the question....
