I've been working on hotel plans for a visit to France, Switzerland and Germany in early May. Making arrangements via email for hotels in Paris and Munich have gone smoothly; however, I can't get a response from hotels in Switzerland. I contacted the Hotel Elite in Lausanne and the Hotel Schluessel in Luzern several days ago; after 36 hours I sent a second, follow up, email to each. It's now been another 24 hours and no response. Do the Swiss not respond to emails, or is it just a coincidence the two I contacted don't?
Just a wild guess. Sometimes, I have found, when someplace doesn't have anything available, they don't answer, but more likely they send a "leider" response. More likely, at this time of year, they might be on vacation, and not there to answer emails.
We have had timely responses in English from the Hotel Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen. No difficulties there.
Why don't you just call?
It has always been my experience that if they do not respond within 36 hrs max to find another hotel. You can imagine if they accept tour groups alot of rooms will be reserved already for May.
Of course you could call but my hunch is they are full for your dates there.
I have made several reservations in Switzerland. If I did not receive an email back with an offer, I tried calling, which worked and then they sent me an email confirmation. I sent out most of my inquiries in the evening and received feedback the next morning because of the time zone. I booked several rooms at the Tourist Hotel Luzern without any problems.
