El Camino

I am doing the Camino either August 5th or August 27th. Which is best due to the hot weather and where can I get a list of every hostel along the way so that may map out my trip and delays. Thank You, Yvette

Hi Yvette, I walked the Camino two years ago, starting in St Jean on May 22 and arriving in Santiago on June 23, 33 days of walking. To get a list of every alburgue you'll need a quidebook or you can download the site I have attached below, there are also some good websites dedicated to the Camino like the one mentioned in the previous post. As far as the dates of August 5th versus the 27th there will probably not be that much of a difference as far as the weather is concerned. I and most pilgrims would usually start walking about 6:30-7 in the morning and walk until about 2 in the afternoon, at that point is when it starts to get really warm so it's good to get into an alburgue, get settled in, do laundry, eat and just rest, we would usually get about 20-30 km behind us in that amount of time. I will also send you some additional websites that will help you. If you haven't made you travel plans yet I highly recommend flying into Madrid, taking the train to Pamplona then a shuttle (that I'll PM you the info on) to St Jean if that's where you plan on starting, just let me know if you need more specifics about that if you desire. Going via Madrid is easier than Paris especially after the Camino, you can take the train or a bus back to Madrid a lot cheaper than Paris, plus more connections from Santiago to Madrid than Paris. Here is the website that breaks down the Camino and lists the alburgues available in each village. At the top middle there is a drop down list that will translate it to english for you, once that is done click on "the French Way" and it will list each recommended stage and all the alburgues. http://www.gronze.com
