Eiffel Tower Tips

My family will be visiting Paris for 3 days in June and wasn't able to purchase advanced tickets to the Eiffel Tower due to the now well known elevator issues. Has anyone tried to get there an hour or so before opening to purchase tickets to the 3rd level? Any suggestions or tips? Walking part way is an option, but my boys have their hearts set on reaching the 3rd level. I realize I will have to wait in long lines but I will have 2 children with me, so I'm trying to reduce the pain a bit. Thanks in advance for your help!

Well you can apparently now buy tickets for the elevator that goes from the second level to the top from the stair way line, it used to be that I recall you could only get those either from the elevator from ground ticket kiosk, or from the second level itself. I took the stairs up with my 13 yr old about 6 years ago, and we took the stairs due to insane lines for elevators( this was before you could prebook tickets like you can now). We then climbed to second level, where we then lined up for tickets for top for my son. We were lucky as the lines for that on the second level were not so bad, since most people had taken the elevator up from the ground and had already prepurchased to the top tickets .. have no idea what it may be like now.
In recent reports people have said they have been able to purchase tickets to the top from stair ticket kiosks. i sitll recommend going early, I was with my 11 yr old in Paris a few years ago and we went to ET twice, because the first time we went the top was closed after we were in the elevator line, due to " being at capacity" , so we went back again , and they closed it "due to bad weather"( it was rainy and blowy). I realize kids want to go to top, but really, even if you make up to second level you will be pleased with view.

We suggest arriving early, expect wait time, take snacks. Do not know of any shortcuts. Even if you have tickets.

Lines are long going up and coming down. But the view is breathtaking. We went at sunset and it was really worth it.
