so, i was just informed that i need to buy tickets for the tower in advance. . . or wait in a ridiculous line. does anyone have any advice on this? when i went online to buy the tickets, they are booking late june already, and i will be there late may. . .
We were there two weeks ago. Ticket office opens at 0930- be in line at 0830 and you will have very little wait time
Heres my 2 cents.... time was a precious commodity for us when we traveled to Europe so we booked a tour through Paris Vision that included admission to the Eiffel Tower and a bus tour of the city. It wasn't that expensive and was well worth the time saved. We had group tickets and entered the tower through the large group entrance (I think we waited 5 minutes or less). Go for it, its worth it!
Note that after you get your tickets, there are two lines to go through to get to the top and two lines to come back down. There's an elevator transfer point about a quarter of the way up. The lower elevator takes a curved route up the leg of the tower. The second elevator does straight up to the top. There's a line at each elevator going up and down.
Megan, too late now for you, they are booking into July,, just got some yesterday! As noted you could go an hour before it opens, and therefore only have to wait about an hour.. Or, Walk up the stairs. I have and I am old, so you could too! Waits are always shorter to walk up( so many wimps),, lol,,, but seriously if you are a normal healthy person you can do it. Stairs are wide enough for people to pass you so no need to rush. The other thing is , they are having problems with the elevators,, so even the tours are getting screwed up( and most are sold out now because of this elevator problem).
The elevators won't all be functioning again till june they think. Please,, look on the Eiffel Tower website, its quite clear there is an unusual issue this season. I personally would skip going up ,, been up lots, but taking friend who has never been to Paris let alone up the ET.Stairs were an option I considered for him, but he has bad knees and we are travelling for almost 3 weeks after the tower so don't want him sore.
will i be able to buy tickets for a later time, for example, if i am there when they open, can i buy tickets for that evening?
