I cannot seem to buy tickets for the date I want online. Can I go the day of and still get to go to the top? I hear everyone saying it is a long line. I don't mind as long as it is not sold out.
it will be a long long line, unless you go early in the morning or late at night. And it won't be sold out, just expect the whole trip taking you up to 3.5+ hours during high season. I bought tickets online to the top summit, my total time is still over 2.5 hours.
There will be a line....we were at the Eiffel Tower at 10 AM on a Monday (last week of March, 2012) to meet up with a bike tour group. ALready the lines for buying tickets for the elevator and to walk up were outrageous. I am talking..worse than standing in line for the Matterhorn or Indiana Jones on a croweded Disneyland weekend. Our bke tour ended about 2, and we walked back to the Eiffel Tower to see what the lines looked like. The line for the elevator was still long, thugh not "as long". The line to walk up, we stood in line perhaps 20 minutes, and were then on our way. On the second deck, you could then buy tickets to go to the top (we did not), but there was no line at all at that point, neither for ticket purchse nor the elevator. So This would be about 3:30 pm-ish. But, keep in mind, if you are going in the summer....well.....
