Has anyone tried the (I think it is new) service where you prepay for tickets tied to a specific time? If so, I am curious whether you get to skip past the masses and avoid most of the time waiting in line.
It saves time for the reason you said. The drawback is that the weather may stink or you may have thought of something better to do at the time you preselected seventeen eons ago.
And as far as I know, you only skip the ticket line. There's a separate line to wait for the elevator.
Tom, I am curious if you know this from personal experience or if you are making this up?
I say this because, since posting this, I have read elsewhere that there is a special line for pass holders. Some have reported it taking only 25 mins total to the second level.
If the latter is in fact accurate, this is a significant travel tip for anyone planning a trip up the tower.
Then I stand corrected. Last time I went to Paris, I had to wait in a (short) line for a ticket, then wait in another shorter line for the elevator.
I pretty sure Tom's correct. I've only seen people with what appeared to be advance tickets being admitted to the tail end of the ground elevator line -- that's the short line. I've never seen any provision for line-butting on the upper level elevators.
Ok, I have it confirmed. Buying tickets online does allow you to skip the lines.
Sorry gentlemen, you are both wrong on your answers.
Michael..."I have it confirmed..." Who (or what) confirmed that advance ticket purchasers get to skip the second elevator line as well? With the crowds I've seen on the first level, this would cause a riot!
Go ahead Norm, be uninformed and stand in line for a few hours. Be my guest!
Michael....I asked you a question about where you had it confirmed that tickets purchased on the internet gave you special access to the second elevator that takes you to the top. Since the Eiffel Tower's website doesn't make any mention of that, I will assume from your ignorant response that your 'confirmed' source is unreliable....unless, of course, you have some hard information to pass on.
We've just gotten back from Paris 4/9, and I can safely say the pre-paid tix ONLY allows you to skip the ticket buying line. There is still another line for the elevators where everyone must wait regardless of whether they have pre-paid tix or not.
Looks like Michael will be joining Norm in that line after all...
