It appears that getting an advance ticket for the Eiffel Tower is a big problem. Does anyone have a creative way for us to get 2 advance tickets for April 15
Because they are down to only one working elevator, advanced, timed tickets are not available. The wait time can be over 2 hours, and skip-the-line tours have lost the ability to skip the line. You can walk to the 2nd floor and buy a ticket there to take the elevator to the top. Friends just did this the other day without any wait.
Just a thought. I know people who have been up in the tower and thought it was great...others, not so impressive. I was there a few months ago and never actually went UP into the tower beccause of the horrendous lines and do not regret it. However, what I DID enjoy immensely was picnicing in the park at the base of the tower at night with other tourists and locals, and watching the tower sparkle for 5 minutes every hour on the hour..it was really magical and we did it three times while we were there for 8 days. We DID climb to the top of the Arc de Triumph on our last night, no lines, inexpensive and fantastic 360 degree view of the city and the eiffel tower as well...just gorgeous. We are going back this year and again I have no intention of going up in the eiffel tower. Hope you have a good time!!Oh, almost forgot, on the advice of some German women we met at dinner, we skipped the eiffel tower another day and took the train to the Sacre Coeur, fantastic views and such a gorgeous church..also a great small village at it's base with restaurants and shops...a really nice day.
I just posted a similar question for the last week in June and learned afterward of one of your respondent's replies. That being that there is only one working elevator right now. Does anyone know when the other elevator(s) will be operational?
On the French news tonight, France 2, it said it would be two weeks before the elevators are back working. This is because the elevators were constructed as one-of-a-kind and built with the Tower. The replacement parts are not standard. The general manager said the lines today were three hours long but today if you wanted to walk up to the second level, there was no wait. It is 671 steps; go at your own pace.
