I attempted to buy Eiffel Tower tickets online as the Rick Steves guidebook suggests, but there is no availability for the entire period of our stay in Paris. So I will have to wait in the dreaded line. If we buy tickets late at night (July 2), will we be able to use them on a later date (July 6)? Alternatively, I could get in line 30 min before it opens as Rick Steves suggests. If I buy tickets in the morning, can I use them the same evening?
Glenn, lines for elevators are now reportly hours long, as in more then 2 hours,, as one elevator is broken and no one knows when it will be fixed( it has been down for a month already) .
Lining up before it opens is a good idea, but I would go about 45-60 minutes ahead now, everyone else is thinking the same thing. The alternative is to take stairs and stair line always shorter and faster moving. If you have a timed entry ticket you will not be able to use it for any other time period. If you miss the time you are just out money.
Thanks for the reply. I found out about the broken elevator when I tried to reserve my tickets. Bummer. I guess what I need to know is whether or not a ticket purchased at the ticket window is only good for immediate entry. More generally, what is the period of validity for a ticket purchased at the window?
The ticket you purchase at the window is only good for immediate entry, unless you choose to get back in the line I suppose, but no, you can't buy it when perhaps you find a small line and then come back and skip the line to use it at a busier time.
We were at the Eiffel Tower mid morning in June and the line was short.
My family visited the Eiffel Tower on June 4th at 11am. We waited about two hours in line for the elevator. It was our priority of the day and definitely worth it!
