Does anyone have any news about a probable fix date for the broken Eiffel Tower elevators? Yes, one of the three is still operating, but advance tickets through July assume just one.
I am also wondering this. I cannot get any availability online for our June dates! Eeek!
I got July tickets just yesterday, but it looked like there was no availability. So I tried tickets just to the second platform. I had to check date by date. What we have are 10:30 pm tickets. It's not exactly what we wanted, but we've decided to be thrilled to get to see the city lit up and I think we will be thrilled. Check late nights to the second platform only before you give up. It may be that they get an elevator fixed and things open up.
Consider taking the stairs to the second level? We did on May 1, 2012 (France Labor Day, area was packed); you can buy an elevator ticket to the top from level two at the same ground level ticket window where you purchase a stairs only ticket and then wait in the second level line to go to the top. Cost for climbing stairs to level two was five euros for adults. We were happy with the climb, not difficultjust don't look down often!-and the views from level two.
I agree the stairs are a great option,, as long as you are not very elderly(notice I said "very") or have bad legs/knees etc. I did them a few years ago,,and its not that bad.
Any idea when they'll be fixed? I'm going in the Fall and hope to have lunch in the 1st level resto again - it was lovely last year. And I've now entered the age where the stairs won't work for me!
Holly, I just goggled it and the most recent news I could find was this thread.
I am facing the same problem as Jenny. The only tickets available while we are there are at 9:30pm. I think that is about the right time to try and catch twilight/lighting up of the city, so it should be okay. If we book this time and date, it is our last night in Paris, so we don't want to be standing in line the whole evening. So, to be clear, if we book these tickets, you don't have to wait in line at all? Thanks!
I wouldn't dare guarantee you anything. After all, there were people who had advance tickets before the elevators broke and presumably they faced a line since there would have been about 2 people with advance tickets for every elevator slot normally reserved for them. But the fact that they are selling only about a third the number of advance tickets now suggests that they are doing their up-most to make sure that those who buy advance tickets don't wait.
We will be in Paris July 7-8. Does anyone know if we plan to take the stairs if we need advance reservations? Or is that just for the elevator? Thanks
