We're not going to be in Paris for another two months but when I went to the Eiffel Tower site it stated that the only times available for purchasing tickets was at 9:30 at night. If the other lift is back in operation by then (does anyone have any information on this?) - would that open up some earlier reservation times - or should I just book the 9:30 slot?
Book the 9:30 time on line and then watch for an earlier time. My two kids went to see the lights at night in early November and loved it probably around 10 pm. We booked whatever was available during our 4 days in Paris which was 10 am on Sunday and so glad we didnt stand in that long long line.
Just came back from Paris. While we were there, someone jumped from the Eiffel tower, and only one lift was operating. We were unable to buy tickets to go up, and were told by other travellers that the only way to get tickets would have been to buy them six months in advance online, if that is any help. However, you can walk up (not sure how far) if you can't get earlier tickets to go all the way to the top. Otherwise, take the 9:30 slot while you can get it! You will have a beautiful view of Paris at night.
