Eiffel Tower

We visited Paris in July and only one of the 4 towers was open. We had to stand in line 2 1/2 hours to get a ticket to go to the top. We are returning in April - is there still just the one tower open?

Chris. last year they had a problem with one of the elevators, that has since been fixed. You can pre purchase a ticket ( we did for our last july visit, we saw you in line and breezed right by you, lol ) the pro is no long wait for ticket line, but you still have to wait 10 minutes or so for elevator.. The tickets cost the same , but they are completely non flexible, if its rainy and foggy you still have that only time slot to go up, and the views aren't as great if weather is bad obviously.
You can't be late, you get about a 15 minute window to make your time slot. The other option is to take the stairs, lines are never a problem there, we've done them, they aren't so bad.. But as I said, both legs are working this year so lines won't likely be that long this year, do prebook though if you reallly hate waiting in lines, the Eiffel Tower always has some line..

We were there last October. All the elevators were working, we got there 1/2 hour before it opened, and the lines were LOOOOOOOONG! It was amazing how long they were. We were planning to walk up anyway. We walked up the 2nd level and purchased our tickets to the top. After about a 3 minute wait to get on the elevator we were up on top looking down on all the people still waiting in line.
