Eguisham, Riquewihr or Ribeauville as a base

We are a family with three well traveled young children traveling through Europe this summer by car and spending two days in the Alsace region. We prefer staying in small villages and need help on which village would be best. We thought Eguisham but this seems the smallest. Any thoughts on these places and where to stay. We do not need to be entertained but would love insight from someone who knows. I have read a lot of forums about these three villages and while each seems lovely, some one must know which is better suited. Thank you for your time.

In Alsace I strongly recommend the open - air Eco- Musee in Ungersheim. Both for adults and children. Lots of old rural buildings, with genuine storks and stork nests, and a great carousel with french pigs. When we were there it was swamped with the local kids (of all ages), even if your children are a bit blase and "cool" they will love this- especially riding with all the French kids. they make it a great occassion.
Also very nice casual restaurant on site with a great choucroute (sp?) lunch. There are also a few other antique fairground rides but they werent working when we were there

My all time top favorite is Riquewihr!! We have small kids and go over a few times a year (there's a fabric factory, Beauville, in Ribeauville I like to shop at). It's only 2 hrs from where we live, but still stunningly gorgeous every time we go. The hotels, although say 3 star are a bit more 2 star, but nonetheless decent and comfortable. Driving down the wine route road is no problem either. We've stayed at the Hotel Au Cerf and Hotel de la Couronne. The hotel Au Cerf had a double bed and bunks for the kids in the same (tiny) room. You may need a second room with 3 kids. Also make a stop at the Castle Haut Koenigsbourg, check their schedule for role-playing days.
